Mayfield Junior School

MCHS Select Environmental Science

McKinley Elementary School

The VIBE and IMAGINE Programs are district-wide initiatives designed to meet the needs of the African American students in the school district. The purpose of the program is to create enthusiasm for academic achievement, to encourage good citizenship, to stimulate a desire to serve others, to promote leadership and develop character. The program at McKinley is a partnership program with Abington Junior High School for African American students of grades 4-6. The sponsors of the program will serve as mentors to McKinley students, in efforts to provide a smooth transition from elementary school to junior high school. The participants in this program will meet after school twice a month. Discussion groups and session will focus on various topics, such as…character and leadership development, citizenship, and cultural awareness through the use of literature, student projects and field trips.

Every day, one billion people make a three-hour journey to gather water! There is a water crisis throughout the world that is creating economic, social, educational, and life-threatening conditions. There is an urgent need for clean water and sanitation in schools and communities around the world. Children, especially those under the age of five, are most susceptible to the ultimate horrors of water-borne diseases. Access to clean water and adequate sanitation substantially decreases the mortality rates among children.

Mesa High Shout Club

Shout Club is a service learning club at Mesa High School. SHOUT Club stands for Students Helping Out and Shout members earn service learning hours by working together on community and school service projects. Students in Shout club are always looking for opportunities where they can "help out" and be in service to others. As a club, we decided to participate in H2O For Life because we wanted to support another school (in our district) that participates, and we saw it as an opportunity to make a difference and serve outside of our community.

Messiah United Methodist Church

We want to follow the example of Jesus Christ to serve others. Share our blessings for a life sustaining cause - clean water.

Metcalf Junior High School

The students love chances to do real world applications of their studies and help other students at the same time. While many of our students are economically disadvantaged, they still go out of their way to give what they can and find creative ways to raise money toward our goal.
