Shout Club is a service learning club at Mesa High School. SHOUT Club stands for Students Helping Out and Shout members earn service learning hours by working together on community and school service projects. Students in Shout club are always looking for opportunities where they can "help out" and be in service to others. As a club, we decided to participate in H2O For Life because we wanted to support another school (in our district) that participates, and we saw it as an opportunity to make a difference and serve outside of our community.
We have the opportunity to provide a transformational service-learning opportunity for our students through H2O for Life. Our students will study issues surrounding the global water crisis, learn about their partner school and country, and will plan and implement activities that raise funds to help bring water and sanitation to our partner school. We want our students to know that by working together, we can make a difference in the world!
HOPE Club empowers students to get involved in the community and service projects that reach out to help others. H2O For Life has been one of our largest service projects for the past 3 years, and it keeps getting bigger and bigger each year! This year we are challenged to raise even more awareness with a sponsored H2O Walk with the and donate our water to our local fire station for water needs as well.
We would like to join two other Mesa Public Schools, Porter and Jefferson Elementary, in their partnership to raise money to help out Mithuri Primary School through real life simulations of carrying water gallons during a walk/jog a thon. We will also collect change through an all school coin drive using gallon jugs for collection. This will help us apply what we are learning in school as we help others. This will bring us together with students who will be eventually attending Taylor Junior High. Ms. Mendoza has been an inspiring leader and willing to help us.
