Kiguuka Borehole Well

Posted by Steve Hall on May 21

Kiguuka Community School is situated in the Nwoya district of northern Uganda and was founded by concerned parents who noticed a high number of local children not attending school regularly. The lack of safe water sources in the area forced students to spend a significant amount of time looking for water, causing them to miss valuable classroom time. Our partner organization, Drop in the Bucket, recently drilled a borehole well on the school grounds, providing a safe water source. This access to safe water is expected to significantly boost student attendance and enrollment, potentially doubling the number of students in […]

Hillside Secondary, a non-government school in the Kilolo District of the Iringa region in Tanzania, serves a total of 104 students and 15 staff members. BEFORE: Hillside depended on the Kilolo water system, collected rainwater during the rainy season, and utilized a nearby stream for daily water needs. There was also a reserve tank to store water for domestic use. However, the monthly water fee of 250,000 Tshs was too high for the school. As a result, students often turned to the nearby stream for water, which is usually unsafe for consumption. Accessing safe and clean water was a daily […]
