New Well, Toilets, and Handwashing Stations Transform School Life in Sami Tabema

Posted by Steve Hall on July 23

A momentous celebration took place in Sami Tabema, a rural village in Tikonko Chiefdom, Sierra Leone. The occasion marked the official handover of a brand-new Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) project at the Bo District Education Committee (BDEC) Primary School—an initiative brought to life through Rural Health Care Initiative’s (RHCI) ongoing partnership with H2O for Life. The project includes a safe and sustainable water well, a block of three modern toilets, and handwashing stations—critical infrastructure for the health and dignity of the children and community. For decades, pupils were forced to drink from the Tabe River and use nearby bushes […]

Vacation Bible School Mission Project

Posted by Steve Hall on July 23

Our theme was “On the Road With Jesus”, and the map photo is where the children learned about H2O for Life and where they learned about Saints from all over the world. They placed stickers each day on the places we talked about. Each child got his/her own map to keep track and to take home at the end. The water drops are something our team created to share this fundraiser with the parish, and they were hung in the windows of the church’s gathering area. Then the VBS children made their own to remind them of our water project. […]

Installation of Combined Water System

Posted by Steve Hall on July 24

School: Presentación Centeno Location: Lajas, Yarula, La Paz, Honduras Benefitted Population: 187 students & 6 teachers Project Review Our implementing partner, Cova, will install a water treatment system, ‘Sistema Combinado’ or Combined System in English, to purify the water in the school. This system consists of a two-step process: first, the reduction of water turbidity (cleaning the water so it looks crystal clear), and second, treating the bacteria to ensure it is safe to drink. This system will serve as a mini-water treatment plant, reducing turbidity levels and killing any bacteria in the water. Cova technicians will install this system […]

The Land of 10,000 WELLS

Posted by Steve Hall on September 12

Welcome to the Land of 10,000 WELLS: Where every drop fuels a wave of change. When Minnesotans hear the phrase “Land of 10,000 Lakes,” we picture water: vast, clean, and life-giving. At H2O for Life, we are taking that iconic image and turning it into action with our boldest initiative yet, The Land of 10,000 WELLS. This is not just a catchy name. It is our Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG) to unleash the power of young people to change the world, one drop at a time. Over the next 10 years, we will fund 10,000 WELLS, where WELLS represents: […]

Mount Calvary Secondary School, located in Mtitu Village of the Kilolo District, has a total enrollment of 109 students. The school employs 10 staff members, including both teachers and non-teaching personnel. BEFORE: A significant challenge faced by Mount Calvary has been the lack of access to safe and clean water, a common issue in many schools and villages across Iringa. Kutamba Project a Success

Posted by Steve Hall on October 7

Kutamba Primary School, located in the Rukungiri District of Uganda, is home to 250 students and their teachers. For many of these children, the school is more than a place of learning; it is also a lifeline, providing daily meals that help them concentrate in class and grow healthy. These meals depend heavily on the school’s vegetable gardens, which supplement nutrition. Yet, for years, these gardens struggled to survive. The school relied on the national water system, which was unreliable due to frequent shortages and high bills. During dry spells, the supply would stop altogether, leaving the gardens parched. Teachers […]
