Nawangisa Primary School is located in the village of Mwendanfuko, sub-county Nabitende, in the Iganga District of Uganda. The current school enrollment is 323 girls and 358 boys. The Sunga water well has been successfully completed and handed over to the school and the community. This project, constructed by H2O for Life in collaboration with Rural Health Care Initiative (RHCI) and the Sunga Community, was officially handed over during a well-attended ceremony. The event attracted various stakeholders, including community and school leaders, women, pupils, RHCI donors, and staff. Thank you for bringing safe water to Real Care Infants School in Uganda’s Wakiso District! Before: Although there is piped water on school grounds, it is extremely unreliable, and so is not used as the primary source. The school shared their main water source, a spring box, with 400 households in the nearby village – students needed to fetch water three times a day and had to cross a major road while facing the possibility of mugging, harassment, or even assault. In 2015, Drop in the Bucket, with funding from H2O for Life schools, drilled a new borehole well at Agama Primary School in Uganda. This school is very well-run and has an active water committee that has done a great job of managing the well. Although the well has been working adequately, the government of Uganda has passed a law requiring all new wells to be fitted with stainless steel pipes.
