St. Joseph’s Borehole

Posted by Steve Hall on September 26, 2023
St. Joseph’s Primary School, located in Nawankonge Village, Iganga District, Uganda, currently has 629 students (286 girls & 343 boys). The school has had a severe lack of safe water for many years, as the nearest water source was a community well that is two-thirds of a mile away. Because the well is also used by the whole community, there are often long lines and the children have to wait, which causes them to miss time in class. The school urgently needed its own source of clean water so that the children could spend more time in school and waste less time fetching water.

Our implementing partner, Drop in the Bucket, recently drilled a new borehole well that will provide safe water on the school grounds for years to come! Having this well at school will allow these students to stay healthy and focused on their education.

Thanks to the Westridge Water Warriors in CA for supporting this project!
