Malawian Borehole a Success

Posted by Steve Hall on October 14, 2019

Our implementing partner, Freshwater Project International, is excited to report a successful installation of the water point at Mselera Primary School in Malawi! The school originally had NO clean water source and students had to fetch water from a shallow, contaminated pond or walk a long distance to an old community borehole and wait in long queues for their turn. Students often became sick from drinking unsafe water. Thanks to the H2O for Life donor schools listed below, we were able to drill a deep borehole well to the water table and install a hand pump right on the school grounds. Students have immediate access to clean, safe drinking water and have received hygiene and handwashing training. The sanitation component of this project will be addressed next. Thanks to everyone who donated and supported this project!
