2019 Water Ball Marks More Than a Decade of Life-Saving Work

Posted by Nick Coughlin on September 27, 2019

Last Saturday night marked H2O for Life’s 10th annual Water Ball. Nearly 300 guests and volunteers attended the celebration, which featured keynote speeches from Kim Cabrera (teacher), Brycelyn Turner (student), and Kayla Cabrera (student) from Varsity Lakes Middle School in Lehigh Acres, Florida.

The event raised over $180,000 to support our national educational outreach efforts. Huge thanks to all of you who supported us!

The night featured auction items befitting the best of bucket lists, such as an African safari, an authentic in-home Kenyan dinner party, vacations to Big Sky and Bayfield, unique dining experiences, and sports opportunities with the Wild, Timberwolves, Vikings and more.

Kids Changing the World

844 million people – about 1 in 9 worldwide – lack access to safe water. At the same time, about 2.3 billion people – 1 in 3 – don’t have access to a toilet.

Kim Cabrera, a sixth grade World History and Reading teacher at Varsity Lakes Middle School in Lehigh Acres in Florida, and two of her students, Kayla Cabrera and Brycelyn Turner, spoke about their experience raising awareness for these critical issues and helping partner schools in Tanzania and Kenya.
