West Middle School launches project

Posted by Steve Hall on May 1, 2018

7th Graders at West Middle School in Binghamton, NY began learning about the water crisis and related issues this fall. They wanted to do something about it. Some of our students have been designing and building this project for several months!

Events Include:

Coin Drive
59 groups of 8-12 students will start competing to fill their jugs with coins. Each group will have 3 weeks to bring in as much coinage as possible toward our water project. This is a student led initiative, so tomorrow morning students will be presenting the jugs and reasons why everyone should care about water issues and their fellow human. We also have a 5 Gallon jerry can on our front desk which has already brought in $12 in donations.

Staff Dress Down & 50/50
Staff paid to wear jeans and entered a 50/50 raffle on Friday.  Our 50/50 winner, Mrs. Salamida donated her winnings which raised $215 for our 7th grade teams!

Student led basket raffle raises $74!
Students Patrick & Gianna designed, built, and raffled baskets at their school dance gaining $74 for each of their grade level teams!
