Thank you for bringing safe water to Abundant Grace!

Posted by Steve Hall on September 26, 2017

A special thank you to the following schools for helping bring safe water to Abundant Grace Junior School, Uganda.

  • Glenbard West High School, IL
  • Jackson Middle School, FL
  • Project Wisdom, NC
  • Rush City High School, MN
  • Sissonville High School, WV

Check out your impact!

  • You brought clean water to 97 people
  • You eliminated 1.65 miles of walking per day
  • You reduced collection time by 11.25 hours per day
  • You replaced an Unprotected dug well with a Rainwater Catchment System

Before:

This school just opened in 2016, but there was no water source at the school for students or staff. The students would fetch water from a “traditional well” – a dug pit in the ground that 200 other community members also rely on for water each day, and in the dry season, the water supply is limited. The water is polluted, surrounded by dense vegetation, and located at the bottom of a steep slope. For these young primary school students, fetching water is dangerous and takes them away from time spent learning in class.

Notes:

  • Calculations are based the on number of 20 liter jerrycans used each day at this facility: 15 jerrycans
  • One jerrycan per trip to original water source
  • Distance is calculated for a round trip, using GPS, as the crow flies
