Warm Welcome from Porter Students and Staff

Posted by Steve Hall on October 6, 2015

Yesterday, H2O for Life President Patty Hall visited Porter Elementary School in Mesa, Arizona. Porter Elementary School’s “HOPE Club” has led the H2O for Life project at Porter for the past few years with leadership provided by teacher Amber Marquez-Wells. Porter has studied the global water crisis and provided funding for schools in Kenya and India. Students have become educated global citizens and advocates for clean water and sanitation for schools around the world. The Hope Club engages the entire school in H2O for Life activities throughout the school year.

Patty met with Porter Staff and received a warm welcome from Principal Paula Warren- and her name was featured on the school sign! Hope Club members are excited to launch the project again this year, and will gather to choose a global school partner soon.

While visiting Amber’s classroom, Youssef, a fifth grade student and Hope Club member, was proud to point out the certificates that were awarded to Porter following their H2O for Life service learning participation.

Amber Marquez-Wells is featured in a new book, released last week, titled: Raising Awareness, Raising Hope. Eleven teachers from across the nation and eleven students impacted by their connections with H2O for Life provide inspiring stories and encouragement for teachers and youth who want to make a difference in the world. Buy your copy today at Amazon.com or Createspace.com. Proceeds from book sales support H2O for Life’s service learning program.

Special thanks to author and friend of H2O for Life, Lori Stoltzman for gathering and editing the book, and her many hours of volunteer service to H2O for Life!
