Hlefi Community School Farm Project

Posted by Steve Hall on April 1, 2022

Hlefi Community School in Ghana, which received support from H2O for Life in 2021, is not only using its water supply for drinking, washing, and promoting health care and sanitation but is also using it to start a school farm project. The students and teachers started vegetable farming- planting carrots, cabbage okra, tomatoes and spinach. The availability of a water system on the school premises, which is close to the new school farm, is making it very easy for the students and teachers to water their crops.

The intention of the school farm project is to teach the students best farming practices, use the produce as part of the school health program educating about the importance of a balanced diet, and also sell the produce generating revenue for the school.
