H2O for Life Spearheads the #noshowerselfie Project in Celebration of World Water Day

Posted by Steve Hall on March 4, 2015

In honor of World Water Day on March 22nd, H2O for Life is poking fun of flattering selfies, opting instead to share mildly embarrassing #noshowerselfies as a way to raise awareness about the importance of water and the struggles many in the world endure without easy access to it.

“This could potentially be the world’s worst social media campaign,” quipped Steve Hall, H2O for Life Director of School Programs. “Who in their right mind willingly shares unflattering selfies on Facebook and Twitter? We know that social media is used primarily as a tool to show people how wonderful their lives are, but we know that the realities, especially when it comes to worldwide access to water, aren’t so pretty. This is our effort to poke a little fun at ourselves and raise awareness at the same time.”

You can take part! Pick at least one day between now and March 22nd (World Water Day) to skip your daily shower, and snap a picture of yourself as soon as you crawl out of bed. The scarier, the better! Then tell us why you think water is important and be sure to use the hashtag #noshowerselfie. Tag H2O for Life on Facebook and @h2oschools on Twitter.

Ready, set, #noshowerselfie !!!
