Lembema is a village located three miles from Tikonko town and serves as the divisional head for approximately six surrounding villages. It is also one of our implementing partners, RHCI’s outreach clinic points. The village has a population of about 680 people, with the majority being youth and children. Most residents are subsistence farmers, primarily growing crops for personal consumption.
Founded in 1947, Saint Charles Primary School is a Catholic mission school that currently has 7 teachers and 308 students enrolled. The school faces significant challenges due to the lack of proper toilet and water facilities. The original toilet, constructed over 70 years ago, has deteriorated and is no longer in use, forcing both pupils and teachers to relieve themselves in nearby bushes. Additionally, there is no water facility within the school premises. Students must walk nearly half a mile to fetch drinking water, which poses a major challenge to their well-being and learning environment.
The lack of adequate sanitation and access to clean water at Saint Charles Primary School creates a challenging learning environment for students and teachers. Addressing these needs will significantly improve hygiene, health, and overall educational conditions.

H2O for Life is not a WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) project implementer. We have partnerships with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) implementing WASH in Schools projects around the world. Our NGO partners match funds needed for each school project. We also have a generous donor that provides us with an interest-free loan that, along with matching funds, allows for many projects to be started or possibly even completed before total funds have been raised. In rare situations we reserve the right to reallocate funds to alternate project(s).
