St. Joseph's Primary School

Uganda 629 beneficiaries Nawankonge Village

Project Complete!

St. Joseph's Primary School, located in Nawankonge Village, Iganga District, Uganda, currently has 629 students (286 girls & 343 boys). The school has had a severe lack of safe water for many years.
The nearest water source is a community well that is two-thirds of a mile from the school. Because the well is also used by the whole community there are often long lines for water and the children have to wait which causes them to miss time in class. Also, the adults sometimes tell the children they are in a hurry and go in front of them in the line. The school urgently needs its own source of clean water so that the children can spend more time in school and waste less time fetching water.
Project Proposal: New Borehole Well
Our implementing partner, Drop in the Bucket, will drill a well that will provide safe water on the school grounds.
