Project Complete!

Destiny Solutions Academy is a private day and boarding school located in Kitui County of the Republic of Kenya. Today there are 59 pupils - 28 boys and 31 girls. The school has 8 streams/groups which are managed by 9 teachers. The school performs very well both academically and in sports. The pupils in this school participate in various activities during a typical day.

They are engaged in learning activities from 8:20 am to 3:10 pm, including Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, Science, Socials studies, CRE, Music, and Physical Exercise. They participate in various activities during their game time, from 3:10 pm to 4:10 pm, including football, netball, other sports, dancing, and music festivals. There are also remedial classes for learners needing extra help, from 4:10 pm to 5:00 pm.
Our implementing partner, Business Initiatives for Survival & Eradication of Poverty (BISEP), and the school management committee identified that the school had no water tank for use by girls and boys who board in the dormitory. These pupils usually queue very early in the morning in order to fetch water from a small plastic tank that is located at the school. Each pupil has a plastic jerrican that enables them to carry the water back to the dormitory for bathing, cleaning, and other necessities.
Project Proposal:
Construction of a 100m² tank for water harvesting during the rainy season. BISEP will ensure that the facility is constructed within the recommended standards and with quality materials. It is also expected that the school management will continuously play an important role in ensuring that the facility is well maintained for years to come.
