Little Flower is a nursery school located within Kilolo district of Iringa, Tanzania. The school has a total of 238 students, along with 9 teachers and staff members. As with many villages and schools in Iringa, the lack of available safe water for Little Flower School is a major problem.
The school sometimes can pay for jugs of water but they usually cannot afford to do so. During the rainy season, the staff, parents, and sometimes young students waste a lot of time fetching water for domestic uses including drinking, cleaning, and cooking. During the dry season, they often go without adequate water at school.
The overall objective of this project is to provide access to clean water for the students at Little Flower School. Our implementing partner, St. Paul Partners, will install a shallow borehole well, with a hand pump, located directly on the school compound. This will ensure students have access to enough safe water which will lead to more time in the classroom studying. Access to safe water will also have a significant impact on the health of the students, teachers and neighbors around the village.
H2O for Life partners with experienced NGO organizations around the world that build and support clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education projects in schools. These NGO partners cover half the total cost of every project funded through H2O for Life.
When students raise money for a project, 90% of the funds go directly to the project, and 10% supports the work that makes the project possible. This includes choosing trusted partners, managing funds responsibly, checking on projects, and reporting back so students can see the impact of their work.
This helps ensure every project is done well, stays sustainable, and truly changes lives.
In rare situations, we reserve the right to reallocate funds to alternate project(s).
