H2O for Life High School Fellowship
What is The Fellowship?
Many students want to become leaders who change the world but don’t know where to start. This Fellowship program teaches students how to lead a global service project at their school so they can become changemakers of the future.
In this program, youth meet once every 3 weeks with an international cohort of peers to learn from experts that are leading the fight against the global water crisis. Throughout the program we will support the fellows through a service project that they can implement in their school and community to help bring clean water and sanitation to a partner school somewhere around the world. By the end of the program, fellows will have had the opportunity to explore different careers by hearing from impact speakers of different backgrounds at each monthly seminar, earn service hours for the work on their projects, develop their leadership skills, and will be recognized as by H2O for Life as a Global Changemaker!
Why Join?
There are a lot of benefits to joining the high school fellowship for students, but here is 5 quick reasons:
- If you are a young person who is looking to connect with other like-minded people, you would be joining a cohort of other ambitious changemakers! Make friends across borders during cohort and peer learning groups!
- Together you will be learning more about issues connected to accessing clean water and sanitation and how you can become a leader who takes action.
- It is a great way to earn service hours! Each fellow will earn at least 20 service hours just from attending meetings with their cohort and participating in the activities. Not to mention the project planning and implementation that goes on outside of the meetings.
- This fellowship looks GREAT on a College Application! We have had more than one fellow over the last 3 years recieve a full ride having written a scholarship application about their expierence in the program and recieving a letter of reccomendation from our staff.
- Every meeting you hear from an Impact Speaker, career professionals in all sorts of different fields that share how they are working on making a difference in the world. This has include nonprofit leaders, VPs at Corporate Companies, Social Entreprenuers, Children’s Book Authors, Lawyers, Engineers, Activists, and more! This is an excellent opportunity to explore careers that make an impact!

Who Can Join?
Anyone at high school age (14-18) is welcome to submit an application. The fellowship is open to international applicants, so not just United States students. Meetings take place on Saturdays at 10:00 am – 12:00 pm U.S. Central Timezone (CDT). As long as you can make it to the meetings, you are more than welcome! More than one fellow can apply per school, in fact, we encourage you to apply with friends! Students who participate in groups usually find the project component easier. We take around 25 fellows per year. If we recieve enough qualified applicants we may open a second cohort, so don’t feel shy about filling out the application! If you have questions, please reach out to the Program Facilitator, Mitchell LeGrand at mitchell@h2oforlifeschools.org.
