STEM - Rain Gardens

Learning Targets:
  1. I will research and gather information about rain gardens. What is their purpose? How do they improve the environment? (SCIENCE)
  2. I will persuade my audience to put in a rain garden by creating a public service announcement on the benefits of a rain garden (TECHNOLOGY)
  3. I will design a map of my rain garden identifying perimeter, surface areas, and angles in which the land should be developed. (ENGINEERING, MATH)
  4. I will calculate the cost of my rain garden. (MATH)

Procedure 
  1. In this activity, students will research rain gardens to find out about purpose, how they work, where they are placed, how much they cost, etc. 
  2. They will then use their skills of persuasion and writing to create a proposal for the installation of rain gardens in their community.
