STEM - The Truth about Bottled Water

Learning Targets
  1. I will investigate the effects of bottle water on my community and the environment as a whole. (SCIENCE)
  2. I will design a study to determine community knowledge/opinion of bottled water use. (ENGINEERING)
  3. I will gather and analyze data, create graphs and use scientific findings in my project. (MATH)
  4. I will present my findings to the class and work with others to create an action plan for the school.  (TECHNOLOGY) 

Essential Questions:
 Initial Questions: 
1. Identify the pros and cons of drinking bottled water? 
2. How can you investigate the quality of water in your community? 
3. What actions can you take to raise awareness about the environmental concerns of bottled water? 

Procedure 
  1. Through research, students will investigate the environmental concerns created by the increasing use of bottled water around the world.  Students may choose to focus on a variety of bottled water issues.
  2. Students must develop their own way to investigate community opinion of bottled water use? Can they tell the difference? Are people aware of the water used to develop bottled water? etc. Student driven question! 
  3. Using research, the class will share and discuss findings. You can take this time to show the universities that have banned bottled water on their campuses!
