Many students in Honduras face serious challenges because their schools and communities often lack clean, safe drinking water and proper sanitation. In many rural areas, water comes from untreated sources that can be contaminated, leading to frequent illnesses that keep children out of school. Many schools do not have working toilets or hand-washing stations, which affects hygiene, comfort, and especially the safety and dignity of girls. Poor water quality and the lack of sanitation create health problems, reduce attendance, and make learning harder, trapping families in cycles of poverty. Although organizations are working to improve water systems, build latrines, and provide treatment solutions, many students still struggle daily with unsafe water, inadequate sanitation, and the impact these issues have on their education and well-being.
