Race 2 Reduce Project Implementer

The mission of the Race 2 Reduce program is to educate students about water resources and engage youth to be leaders of change. Through the development and implementation of rich interdisciplinary K-12 curriculum modules, lessons and themed activities focused on local water resource issues, students will become better decision makers and environmental stewards as they become the leaders of tomorrow.

Race 2 Reduce is a community collaborative of many stakeholders, supported through a grant from the MN Department of Education: H2O for Life, Mahtomedi and White Bear Lake School Districts, White Bear Lake Chamber of Commerce, Mayors of White Bear Lake, Birchwood, Mahtomedi and Dellwood, White Bear Lake Resolution Association, White Bear Lake Homeowners Association and the Mahtomedi Area Green Initiative.

How You Will Make A Difference

Overview: As a Project Implementer you will work together with the Program Coordinator to continue development, coordination and implementation of the Race 2 Reduce (R2R) program throughout Minnesota.

Position Type:  Part Time 20 hours/week – M-F and flex hours (possible weekends) as needed for events and school visits.

Reports to: Project Manager/Race 2 Reduce Program Coordinator, H2O for Life

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating outreach and training activities with schools
  • Providing curriculum resources about water conservation & environmental stewardship
  • Coordinating meeting schedules and communications with Race 2 Reduce design and implementation teams
  • Managing service learning special projects with students in the classroom and after school activities
  • Coordination of a statewide poster contest
  • Present to administrative staff, teachers and students to support participation in Race 2 Reduce
  • Collect and evaluate feedback on our educational materials modifying them when and as necessary
  • Evaluate lesson plans on website and create easy access to key materials
  • Assist in the collection of data and evaluation of program outcomes
  • Manage social media accounts
  • Participate and support current programs and initiatives of H2O for Life as a team member and perform other duties as assigned

Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse groups of individuals
  • Team oriented – self-starter who is willing to wear multiple hats as needed
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive
  • Experience working with youth in an educational setting, classroom experience preferred
