EE Week Partner Spotlight

H2O for Life
H2O for Life provides global partnerships that transform lives abroad and in the classroom. Currently 115 schools in the United States are working to provide clean water, sanitation and hygiene education for schools in need. H2O for Life provides resources that educate students about the global water crisis and provides classroom activities that engage students in a meaningful service-learning project. During EE Week, many H2O for Life schools, including Centennial Middle School in Minnesota, will host "Walks for Water." They hope to raise $10,000 to bring water, toilets and hand-washing stations to schools in Bolivia, Nicaragua and Bangladesh. Valentine Hills Elementary School, in Arden Hills Minn. will sell H2O for Life wristbands as part of a fund-raising activity to bring clean water to Mahwa School in Uganda. Students will study global water issues and participate in activities to raise awareness about water in their community. Abington High School in Penn. is raising funds to bring clean water to a school in India. Learn more

A Day in the Life of a Drop
A Day in the Life of a Drop is a set of activities developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to help students understand the connections between the source of the water they use and the ways their water use habits affect the environment and human health. Students also learn how to reduce water use and engage family members. After completing the worksheets provided on the website, students and families take the Pledge to Filter Out Bad Water Habits to demonstrate a commitment to saving water for the future. Learn more
