Ready to help a school in need? H20 for Life supports schools in communities that are invested in creating a successful water project. Participating NGOs must submit a WASH-in-Schools proposal in conjunction with local water committees that meets the needs of the school, as well as the communities. Communities must be willing to provide labor to complete the project and must be committed to maintain the water system once completed. Community support of the project is essential to success.
Every school on our list desperately needs water, sanitation, and hygiene. All they need is you.
[Gallery not found]When choosing a project consider the following:
- You can select a project that fits your school’s fundraising goal. Funds needed to complete school water projects range between $1,000 and $10,000. Schools may select partner schools from the list of Schools in Need of a WASH Partner and commit to raising the necessary funds by themselves, or may partner with other U.S. schools to help achieve their goals and complete projects.
- You can decide on a geographic area where you would like to make a difference. Once you decide on an area, let us know and H20 for Life will email a list of school names and project funding needs. Or if you like, we can pick a school for you! You will then receive contact information for a specific school.
- Remember, projects must be completed by school year-end.
- Once you’ve selected a school, kick off your fundraising project! Spend a class session brainstorming with a fundraising plan with your students. Will you have big events once a quarter? What kind of activities will you do? Who will take the lead on fundraising events? How will your community know about the events? We have ideas to get you started and other helpful resources here.
- Learn about your partner school throughout the year. Exchange letters, emails, or photographs with partner school. You can create your own web page for the project, too!
