H2O for Life Results

Founded in 2007, H2O for Life, a 501c3 organization supports the WASH Initiative. (water, sanitation and hygiene education for schools) Children need clean water, sanitation facilities and hygiene education to be able to learn. Yet half of the world’s schools lack safe water and more than half lack an adequate latrine. Illnesses related to water and sanitation kill 4,500 children a day. Embracing the challenge to raise funds that will provide a WASH project to one school at a time can make a difference.  Young people working together will be the catalyst of change.

H2O for Life Goals

  • Engage young people through education and action.
  • Provide engaging, educational resources to schools and organizations that will be useful, meaningful and relevant.
  • Provide an opportunity for students to make a difference at a young age.

H2O for Life Strategies

H2O for Life provides:

  • A specific global school partner, with photos, pen-pal address and a project description.
  • Curricular connections through a free online “tool-kit”, and inspirational materials for a variety of academic courses of study. Each school receives an H2O for Life flag.
  • Photos of the completed WASH in Schools project, increasing the impact on students.
  • A service learning template for groups to use as a guide to assure meaningful service-learning.
  • Resources and a help-line available during school hours to provide support.

Expected Outcomes

Service-learning engages young people in service to their local and global communities, while connecting their service directly to educational goals. It emphasizes critical thinking and problem-solving, takes on real issues of concern to the school and the community, and values people of all ages and backgrounds. The result is:

  • Engaged students and teachers
  • Improved learning
  • Stronger communities
