Central Hinds Academy

Central Hinds Academy did many different projects to raise our funds.  Among our favorites were:

Dime Tuesday and Quarter Thursday – For a month each classroom had their own collection cans and students would donate their extra change.

Hat Day – For $1 the students could buy a ticket that would allow the student to wear a hat to school.

Wishing Well – (This was a big hit!) – A gallon glass jar with a small cup in the bottom of it was filled with water and placed on the counter in the office.  Students could come by and try to drop a quarter in the cup.  The seniors donated bags of candy and every quarter that went in the cup won a piece of candy.  If they missed three times they still won a piece.  The students got really competitive with this and I liked it because it focused on the water theme so students could remember what the money was for.  I was amazed at how many quarters they would drop in a day!

H20 store – we sold H20 pens, pencils, and wristlets (This was expensive to stock and items had to be purchased in large amounts for our small school so we only made a small profit on this.)

Lollipop tree – We purchased gourmet lollipops from the Ozark Delight Lollipop Company and sold them off a wooden tree for $1.  This was a great money maker because we didn’t have to buy many at a time but I had to reorder 3 times because the students loved them.  They sell sugar-free gourmet lollipops that are high in fiber, fat free and have 100% Vitamin C.  This worked well at Valentines Day.

PJ Day – For $2 students could buy a ticket that allowed them to wear their Pj’s to school.  We did this on a cold day so they had warm fleece pajamas, robes, and slippers.  The younger ones really liked being able to show off their Christmas pajamas!

We had a big poster in the office of a water drop that we colored in after each project to show our progress.  By the middle of February we had our water drop filled in!
