Monroe school in WI

H20 for Life a Huge Success!

During March Middle Level month, Mr. Van Meer challenged the entire school to join other Badger Conference middle schools to raise funds for a school in Ethiopia.
The Maru Fake School has 495 students and is located in a rural area in the municipality of Wolisio. The funding needed was $8,000 in order to provide a fresh water well, latrines and handwashing stations. All funds raised by the Badger Conference schools would be matched by a non-government organization. Students and staff bought hundreds of bags of tasty popcorn, purchased chances to win a prize, or earn the right to “pie” or “silly string” Mr. Van Meer and Mrs. Wheeler, and participated in the “wet sponge” event, where many of the MMS staff willingly became targets for a soaking. The activity culminated with an all-school assembly led by Representative Brett Davis who encouraged students to be aware of how they can help others and make a difference, no matter how great or small.

By the end of the H24 event, Monroe Middle School sent $589.80 to help this worthy school.

Simply the Best at MMS!

We met our goal and exceeded by a few dollars. Our assembly was Friday and Representative Brett Davis spoke to kids about living in a global society and reaching out to others in need. It was perfect! I’m still finding chocolate pie in my ears!
